When it comes to Madden NFL 22, some expect The Yard to return after its promising debut last year. The Yard is a new arcade mode, which is closer to the era of NFL Street than the real simulation. The mode is gorgeous, fast and fun. Not for nothing, it also provides another way for microtransactions by allowing EA to sell cosmetics. This is helpful because EA’s Ultimate Team economy (compared to gambling) may continue to be banned in countries around the world, just like in the Netherlands and Belgium.
According to EA, “You can now visit new realms with beautiful beaches and beautiful mountain landscapes around the world, fight against Boss characters with unparalleled NFL talents, and unlock celebrations and items for your avatar. In addition, new rankings The mode allows your competitive Yard players to test each other's skills and get rewards."
Expect Madden 22 to continue to focus on the main pillar of Ultimate Team, Franchise, Face of the Franchise-the game's story mode-and possibly the return of The Yard. Superstars KO and The Yard serve overlapping fandoms, but last year EA did allow them to coexist, rather than abandon the old model in exchange for the new model, so I hope that both can return again. As EA opens up to new modes, game story changes, and other new ways to play Madden 22, we will definitely introduce them here.
